After it was announced earlier this month that Pinterest drives more traffic than Google+, Youtube and LinkedIn combined, I haven’t gone a day without reading a tweet about this latest social media trend.
For those of you who have missed the pinterest hype – it’s a virtual pinboard where you can collate all the wonderful things you see on the Internet. Put simply – it’s a way of grouping inspiration, whether for a wedding, fashion, food, design, business or anything you like.
It’s proven extremely popular since its launch, but over the past few months it has been positively booming, providing more opportunity for businesses and brands to get involved. The number of unique visitors to the Pinterest site increased by 429% between September and December 2011 and with 10.4 million registered users and up to 2 million daily active users, the possibilities seem endless.
We’ve seen it used by agencies that want to highlight great PR and creative advertising campaigns, as well as inspirational images and content and I personally really like the ‘My life in Leeds’ board of Leeds bloggers – the images give you an idea of what they write about and there’s a direct link to their page. This is a great resource for PR professionals and other bloggers but also people who are interested in Leeds.
It goes without saying that Pinterest has also been integrated with Facebook and Twitter to great success.
Obviously, the team at Manifest is getting involved, and you can find our page here: www.pinterest.com/ManifestComms
What will you pin on yours?
